I’d agree that the 3 is the most important position in the modern game, and it’s the toughest competition as well. I’m working on an article on Stanley Johnson as part of this series, and it’s crazy the type of mismatches he creates when he’s sliding up as a small-ball 4 or sliding down as a over sized 2, but when he’s playing as a 3 he’s just a guy. The best 3’s are too fast for 4’s and too big for 2’s.
