Trust And Mental Health
I am reading an amazing book at the moment on how our bodies experience and store trauma.

We may not all have been through trauma but all of us have experienced times of hardship and difficulty. One of the key points the book makes is that despite the explosion in the 1908’s of drugs prescribed for all sorts of mental illness our rates of depression and anxiety are now much, much higher than before the prescription boom began. How is that possible?
There are many, many theories including the breakdown of families and social networks that once may have held people together in stronger relationships of care. But another theory is that the loss of religious faith or spiritual belonging leaves vast numbers of people consciously or unconsciously ‘anxious’ about their lives, their futures and the purpose of each day. Does my life matter? Does anything exist that cares about me?
I want to suggest that if you can learn to trust that there is something there for you then life begins to take on a different level of meaning and possibility. I have no idea where you are spiritually but if you can learn to TRUST in God, the universe or whatever that means for you right now then perhaps things may shift a little.
I want to leave you with a quote that really touched me yesterday. It’s from the mystical spiritual writer of the 14th century; Julian of Norwich. She simply wrote this:
“All shall be well, all shall be well… For there is a Force of love moving through the universe That holds us fast and will never let us go.”
My friend, just TRUST that something is now, has always, and WILL always carry you and guide you. Just TRUST.
