Tim, I keep seeing this on the first page of Fallujah, and I click it because it’s one of the most gut-wrenching, heartbreaking and disturbing pieces I’ve ever read. I’m so curious as to the context — part of me wants it to be fiction but from your other pieces I’m doubting it is. Another part of me is wondering about the guy and his dead son and whether a person could make up such a character, and if so, why would they? I’d appreciate some elucidation on the piece anyway to satisfy my morbid curiosity.
