The biggest problem with the U.K. / EU debate was that we don’t hear anything about the EU in our news except: ‘THEY want to do this’, ‘WE have won an exemption from that’. It’s a shame on all parties and especially our media that we haven’t been encouraged as a public to engage in debates over the shaping of EU policy on the single market, on tackling climate change and on social protections. For example there is major piece of work on-going designed to build on the Social Chapter: http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_MEMO-16-545_en.htm but you probably haven’t heard of it (my apologies and bravo if you have) and I only stumbled upon it by chance. This started before Brexit. I never heard it discussed in the UK.
