Attempts to Block Trump from Mounting the White House
The latest barricade to block Trump from mounting the throne took place in Colorado today. Two presidential electors, Polly Baca and Robert Nemanich filed a suit in federal court to overturn a state law that forces electors to support whoever won Colorado’s presidential popular vote.
Hillary Clinton won Colorado’s popular vote.
If they win their suit, that would make the same law in 28 other states questionable. In essence, if Colorado permits their electors not to vote for whoever won their state’s election than Republican electors in other states could reject Trump.
“Plaintiffs are entitled to exercise their judgment and free will to vote for whomever they believe to be the most qualified and fit for the offices of President and Vice President, whether those candidates are Democrats, Republicans, or from a third party,” they argue in a brief signed by Denver attorney Jason Wesoky. Folks, if I was a betting man, I’d put my money on the moon falling out of the sky before Trump not taking office.
It seems as if those recounts will not do the trick. Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are not expected to nab a victory for Hillary.
With that chance obliterated, the only way to block Trump from becoming our beloved president is the Electoral College vote on Dec. 19. Yesterday, a Republican elector from Texas, announced that he would not vote for Trump.
But in order for Trump to fall short of 270 electoral votes, 36 other electors would have to ditch Trump.
Even if such a miraculous chain of events transpired, then the election falls into the hands of our Republican Congress.
Congress than votes on the three people who got the most votes from the electors: Hillary, Trump, and whoever.
Hillary won’t be our next president.
I don’t know what would be worse : a Trump presidency or if Republicans manage to elect someone besides Trump.
There would be a lot of angry gun-toting Trumpkins.
What do you think?
