I don’t think white people should be educating other white people on racism for a couple of reasons. First, most of you suck at it. I’d say about 99.9%. Second, you are too gentle about it and the people you’re educating are engaging in subtle racism while being “taught.” Three, in the information age there is no excuse not to be able to find a black person who has wrote, talked, or blogged about these very issues. There’s nothing you can add to the education process. Four, its engaging in white supremacy to profit, build a platform, or garner accolades for talking about a subject when black people face scorn for those very same actions. If you don’t understand that, you really have no place “teaching” anything about racism while an active participant in it. Finally, making white groups for white people against racism is racist. Centering, erasure and appropriating black voices, and exclusion among others.
Now what white people should be doing is calling out racism, directing white people who legitimately want to learn to resources authored by black people, and elevating voices of black people, not taking up space or spotlight. Call out your racist friends and family instead telling us how not racist you are like you deserve a fucking merit badge.
