One Thousand Words…

Andréa your description above resembles what I have heard colleagues refer to as “close viewing.” In effect the goal is to promote cognition by citing evidence on the visual form, reminiscent of the logic that is necessary to form argument about text. I am wondering what other forms of graphics (e.g. organizers, film, comics, etc.) would also allow students entry into the main source of text, or whether the proposal aligns to literary derivatives such as poems of the same topic/theme. Ultimately I sense that your intent is to provide entry into the literary power of the words and to have students recognize the link between sound thinking and analytical reading. It makes me curious about what students wrote in repose to the critical review of their assumptions of the photograph. Thank you for sharing.
