ISIS Wannabe Arrested at JFK Airport

A New York man was arrested at JFK airport on Wednesday night after being accused of trying to fly to the Middle East to join ISIS. The Bronx man’s name is Saddam Mohamed Raishani, and usually goes by the name Adam Raishani. He was charged with attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization over-seas. This charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

The New Yorker’s plan to fly to Syria was stopped when he unknowingly contacted a confidential source posing as a fellow ISIS wannabe.

Acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Joon H. Kim said in a statement: “Having already helped another man make that trip to ISIS’s heartland, Raishani allegedly acted on his own desire to wage violent jihad, planning to leave his family and life in New York City for the battlefields of the Middle East,”
