A Better Calendar For Gigging Musicians
I’m just as addicted to my phone as anyone else, but there’s one thing the phone unequivocally sucks for: getting a bird’s eye view of your calendar.
Which is a bit of a problem for a gigging musician.
- Am I available for this date? Well, the day itself is clear, but I have to scroll all over the surrounding days to see if I’m traveling to or from some other gig.
- Did I book enough gigs in December? No good way to know without unchecking all the calendars except “Gigs” and zooming out to month view.
- When should I go on vacation? Again, it’s tough to say without a whole lot of scrolling and double checking.
Which is why I’ve added a year-at-a-glance calendar to my toolkit.
Just go to https://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/, choose the year, and select “6 months to a page” from the Formatting drop down.
Print that puppy, hang it on your fridge, and bask in the warm glow of the analog dashboard for your schedule.
Do I still use a phone & computer for my schedule? Darn tooting I do. But mostly I use them to plan my days.
