This is great — but most investors don’t know or are unwilling to state what their filters are. Too many early stage investors shy away from being transparent and vocal about their preferred investments. This isn’t a problem the entrepreneurs suffer from… it’s one that early stage investors need to fix for themselves.

Being an open and transparent investors is something that professional investors are mostly good at — they state what they’ve invested in publicly, have blog posts and content describing the kinds of things they invest in and some even list the sort of companies they want to see walk in their door.

Angel investors are an entirely different story. They hide so no one knows they’re an investor. They don’t have a thesis. They are afraid that being transparent means they won’t get great deal flow.

We need to help investors be more transparent — not put more walls between entrepreneurs and investors.
