Campaign reaches fundraising milestone without a cent from corporate PACs

ITHACA, N.Y. — Today, Josh Riley announced having raised over half-a-million dollars for his campaign for Congress, which he launched on April 11 in New York’s 19th Congressional District. Over 5,000 people from all 50 states and every county in NY-19 contributed — with the majority of contributions totaling $25 or less.

Riley’s announcement demonstrates clear contrasts with his opponent, Marc Molinaro (R- Dutchess County). In his most recent financial filing, Congressman reported having raised $217,000 from individuals. Riley raised more than double that amount from individuals in about half the time. While the majority of Molinaro’s support comes from corporate PACs, Big Oil, and GOP leadership, Riley has not accepted any corporate PAC money.

Riley’s significant fundraising haul follows a groundswell of local support. More than 20 Democratic Committee chairs and vice chairs have announced their support for his candidacy.

Riley issued the following statement:

“I’m humbled by the outpouring of grassroots support our campaign has received. Upstate New Yorkers are fed up with pay-to-play politicians like Marc Molinaro, who’s selling us out to line his own pockets with special interest money. I’ll never accept a penny from corporate PACs because I believe working folks deserve to have their voices heard for once.”
