Atlanta Braves

In this series, I’ll look at each MLB team’s position player and pitcher that is the most deserving of Hall of Fame consideration. They have to be a starter or significant contributor (sorry Ichiro, I still love you).

Atlanta Braves

Position Player: Freddie Freeman (1B)

Nick Markakis has 2,000 hits and Matt Kemp is approaching 1,000 RBI, but Freddie Freeman is the Braves’ best player and their best chance at a Hall of Famer. He’s 27 with a .290/.871 avg/OPS line with 158 HR and over 1,000 hits. He’s been an All Star twice and has plenty of time to add to his 25.7 WAR. Atlanta hasn’t been very good recently so Freddie is gonna need some more talent around him in order to truly shine. He’s still got a long way to go.

HOF Chance: 40%

Pitcher: Julio Tehran (SP)

It’s too bad that Bartolo Colon got traded, because there is no one else on this roster with much of a shot at the Hall of Fame. I chose Tehran because he’s young (26), has a couple of All Star nods, and a career 3.61 ERA. He has to significantly raise his WAR (13.9) and win more than 14 games in a season before he could really be taken seriously.

HOF Chance: 20%
