Hall of Famer: Miami

In this series, I’ll look at each MLB team’s position player and pitcher that is the most deserving of Hall of Fame consideration. They have to be a starter or significant contributor (sorry Ichiro, I still love you).

Miami Marlins

Position Player: Giancarlo Stanton (OF)

Stanton is in the midst of a historic season, he’s already got 50 HR with over a month to go, and is challenging Maris’ 61 HR record (I know it’s not the official record but it is still the record for a lot of fans). However, this isn’t the 27 year-old’s first successful season. He’s led the league in HR before, and although at times he’s struggled to stay healthy, he’s got 4 All Star games, the 2012 NL Wilson Defensive Player Award, the 2014 NL Hank Aaron Award, and a Silver Slugger on his shelf. He’s over halfway to 500 HR (258) and appears to only now be entering his prime. If he keeps up this pace he could go down as one of the all-time greats. Only time will tell.

HOF Chance: 65%

Pitcher: José Ureña (SP)

With the untimely death of Jose Fernandez, Miami doesn’t have a lot of future HOF-quality pitchers on its roster, so I took a shot in the dark. Ureña is young (25), and is having a great year (12 wins, 3.68 ERA). He’s a little wild (leading the league in HBP) and merely a good, not great, strikeout artist (career 5.7 SO per 9 IP), but he has a lot of potential. If he stays healthy, he could have a long career ahead of him, and the HOF isn’t completely out of reach.

HOF Chance: 7%
