Most of your criticisms are fair, but I take issue with the last paragraph. Pharmaceuticals are not at all like the markets Adam Smith talked about. There is generally one seller and demand is extremely inelastic. There is no invisible hand in a market like this because it isn’t perfectly competitive. Referencing this as an example of free market arguments failing in the real world irresponsible.
