Is Money Such a Bad Thing?

Good morning patches. Today I want to talk about money maybe not being such a bad thing.

Seeking out money is generally a looked down type of ideal, usually lower than say passion or happiness. I usually feel the same and my life is filled with example where I chose what makes me feel better. However, while considering new parts for my computer, I realized that money is usually the deciding factor in whatever upgrades I’m looking for. It can be going out to a restaurant or a wine bar, participating in an online course or buying a new warm blanket for the winter, money is always the consideration.

It’s not that I don’t have the money to get essentials; thankfully I’m now passed this stage. However, I have to keep prioritizing everything. And it sucks.

I could say it’s a matter of quality. If I’m spending good amount of money on something, I want it to work (and work well) and fill my needs, even surpass them. It’s also about the feeling of content whenever I use something that has a designated spot in my daily routine (interestingly, I also noticed that spending money on items or services I use irregularly invokes guilt, depending how much was spent).

Recently I’m starting to think that seeking out an opportunities just for the sake of money is OK — something I was not fine with in the past. Perhaps now, that I have a regular source of income from a job I like, I feel it’s OK not to chase what I want and pay to have it come to me instead, you know?

Maybe looking for money for sake of money is not that bad? Because it’s never really for the sake of money alone, isn’t it? They say money can’t buy happiness, but it can sure get you things that can make you happy…
