We cannot persuade those who do not respect/obey the law to do so by passing more laws. Someone who wants to shoot up a crowd of random people will find a way to get a gun. Someone who wants to get high will find a way to get high. Not because the laws aren’t strict enough, but because society as a whole is failing.

The village they say it takes to raise a child, isn’t. We’ve become a conglomerate of shallow, petty, self-serving states without direction or purpose and can’t see past the “shiny”. Humans need a purpose.

We aren’t concerned with churning out healthy, productive members of society. Our public schools are nothing more than holding cells run by “Those who can’t” mass producing “workers”, consumers and taxpayers. Colleges and universities demand $100 for a $20 education at best. As a result we are now at least 20 years behind the global leaders in science and technology, lead the globe in incarcerated citizens and have a drug epidemic that continues to grow at an astounding rate. Contrary to popular belief, this is not despite a 30+ year “War on Drugs” but because of it.

This ship is sinking. Stop trying to empty the ocean and fix the damn boat.
