Snapchat Will Become all things AR and a Visual Search Engine

The Future of Snapchat is going to be huge. Why do I say this? Well in my last Article I spoke briefly about this. You can find that article here. I want to get more in depth with it because I think businesses and the general public are grossly under estimating the impact Snapchat is having on our daily lives.

Right now as we speak Snapchat has hired engineers from both Google and Nest to build visual recognition system. The coined “ Snap Lab Team “ which is under the leadership of co-founder and CTO Bobby Murphy, is working on AR ( shared in my previous article ) and 3D related technologies. I can now confirm this through sources at THE INFORMATION .

They are thinking of the camera as a way to visually search. Recently we saw the addition of Memories by Snapchat which is genius. It is my belief that Snapchat will become the default camera to use on all phones or at least that is what they want. Imagine you want to find that random place you ate at last august that had good Persian food. Snapchat memories linked with a system like goole maps would be able to visually display the location through the app since you saved a photo from there in Snapchat memories. The possibilities are truly endless. I think that Mark Zuckerberg thought of things such as these which is why he offered to buy the company. I believe Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel say this as well and much more which is why he declined. The future looks amazing. What are your thoughts?
