To explain the Jerry Hall thing… it’s really down to the long tall Texan thing and the charisma it takes to pull off aviators. When you have time check out these iconic photos and realise that this is cool to me, so it is a compliment. I’m strange like that. I’m a huge fan of Mick Jagger’s but also Bryan Ferry’s. Who to choose… who to choose... But check out Christopher Walken. Ha. And Grace Jones. And Truman Capote. I love the first shot the best. But the ones with each of Ferry and Jagger are so cool. Why am I going on about this? I wish I knew. I guess maybe I like to associate you with today’s version of this kind of cool.

The only other famous long tall Texans I’m aware of, apart from you and Jerry Hall, are these guys. That would have been weird for me to have told you you were my millennial version of a band that is actually – you guessed it – a Bit-a-Brit (fucking hell). Psycho/neo-rockabilly, etc.

You will see I removed the video clip I originally had in that note I sent you — I realised after I pressed go that I’m the only one in the world who fucking loves The Cult like that. I didn’t think you needed to sit through it on your birthday. So I removed it. I also removed a short addendum I’d initially added — don’t worry, I didn’t say anything too shocking that would lead me to delete it — I just decided to add it to the original and I know you since spotted it. Am I overexplaining? Doesn’t sound like me at all, really, does it?
