Benedetto To MLS?

It hasn’t been a good day for Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici, but his tendency to find ways to dismantle his club on repeated occasions. A few months ago, he began to remove pieces from the puzzle, one of them included Uruguayan international Nicolás Lodeiro. On Thursday evening, the beleaguered president of Boca announced on Fox Sports Argentina about an offer that was given to him from Major League Soccer for striker Darío Benedetto.

The former Club América man is part of another potential exodus the Xeneize will experience during this summer break. With Carlos Tevez making a blockbuster move the Chinese Super League and Fernando Gago being wooed by the tremendous amounts of money that are seducing him and the club.

I spoke with multiple sources in Argentina and the “conclusion” was that the MLS club offered between US$12–14 million for “El Pipa”. As of right now the teams that I have heard are two - LA Galaxy and Seattle Sounders. Based on certain information gathered, the newly crowned MLS champs are on the pole position for Berazetegui native (it was actually LA as would be confirmed Friday).

Is it a done deal? Absolutely not. There are factors that Benedetto and Boca are considering. Angelici during his interview with Fox said that the club was going to analyze the deal. Knowing the amount, it seems highly unlikely that Benedetto will stay.

The forward also has stated that his professional dream was to play for the childhood club. First, he paid a million dollars out of his own pocket to leave Mexico. Many might want to be intrigued by the passion that the player has for his current team, yet the money that the US side would offer would seem to be one that trumps that devotion.

Sidebar:

Boca will not be getting money for Tevez’ move to China. There was speculation about him leaving US$10 million in (it ended up being 12) Boca’s coffers. This is a technicality. The supposed ten million come from Tevez rescinding the contract that he had pending.

Fernando Gago looks to be poised to sign with Boca once again despite the interest from China.

****UPDATES WILL BE GIVEN AS SOON AS THEY ARE MADE AVAILABLE*****
