The Hospice Austin’s Christopher House

Now retired and living on a ranch in Travis County, Judge Pete Lowry spent many years in law, first as an attorney with McGinnish, Lochridge and Kilgore then as a judge in the 261st District Court of Travis County before returning to practice law as a partner with Meyers and Lowry. Since retiring, Judge Pete Lowry has spent time focusing on his hobbies and supporting charitable activities, including the Hospice Austin.

Based in Austin, Texas, the Hospice Austin was the first hospice in central Texas. It was established more than three decades ago with a mission to serve families by providing stellar end-of-life care. The nonprofit offers this care to anyone, regardless of illness or financial situation.

Hospice Austin maintains a 24-hour care facility called the Christopher House, which includes 15 rooms designed to provide the utmost comfort for patients and their loved ones. Each room comes equipped with modern amenities, including a private bathroom, wireless internet, refrigerator, and cable television. Additionally, most rooms open onto a courtyard. Each day the rooms are decorated with fresh flowers and at the request of the patient, therapy dogs and volunteers are available for visits.
