Bucket goes Global

About a month ago, we launched Bucket beta in Northern California which allowed you to parse any text source (online or from friends) on any device to create your own trip plan. We were honored with the warm reception, and delighted to be covered in Techcrunch, Mashable, Lifehacker, Travel + Leisure, USA Travel Today, and more publications.

More importantly, travelers from around the globe were using it to plan their trips to Northern California.

People loved how simple Bucket made it for them to collect, visualize, and organize their trip ideas. But the most requested feature, was to support more locations outside of Northern California.

As cool as Northern California already was as a travel destination, people wanted more. They wanted to visit Iceland to see the summer solstice, take a short jaunt to hike the Swiss Alps, or better yet, take a diving vacation to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

You asked for more destinations, and we listened.

Today, we launch a limited version of Bucket that you can use globally — yes, that’s right — you can now use Bucket to go anywhere in the world. And just in time for your Labor Day vacations.

As our first step toward international expansion, Bucket now allows you to collect your favorite trip ideas from four of your favorite travel sites worldwide — Tripadvisor, Foursquare, Facebook Places, and Airbnb.

When you find a trip idea that you like on any of those four sites, say, the Blue Hole in Belize on Tripadvisor, you can collect it by simply clicking on the Bucket Chrome extension, or copy-and-pasting the URL into Bucket. As always, we then make it easy for you to decide and go on your trip by adding photos, ratings and reviews, and auto-mapping it for you.

To celebrate our first step into international waters and help you get started on your own adventure, today, we’re sharing more than 100 of our favorite buckets from travelers like you, from around the world. Find backpacker’s secret spots, kid-friendly activities, and foodie delights.

Learn how travel adventure journalist, Daniela Zavela, who writes Diaries of a Backpacker and has traveled to over 80 countries, shares cool new spots she explores.

Or how newlyweds, Susan and Josh, used Bucket to plan their destination wedding roadtrip in New Zealand with all their friends.

Or how traveler, Brooke Thayer, records and remembers her honeymoon in Croatia and shares her favorite places with her friends.

Today is just the first step to supporting your travels globally. We’re working on adding more sites in more locations soon, so stay tuned.

So try building some buckets for your next international trip. We’re excited to see where you go!
