The world is a big and scary place sometimes, and while trigger warnings might give brave people a chance to prepare themselves to go through something difficult, the easier path is in avoidance.

Although, avoidance may be tempting, all the research I have read on this subject says that when it comes to triggers (and phobias, which are related) controlled exposure is a better tactic. Avoidance can actually make the effects of triggers worse over time.
