Yes, I think the “breast is best” pressure has increased a lot in recent years, unfortunately.

I think many of those advocating for the normalization of breastfeeding obviously have good intentions. I am very pro-breastfeeding and it upsets me when women are shamed simply for feeding their babies, and that needs to change.

But I definitely think that those doing breastfeeding advocacy could put forth their message without setting up a “hierarchy” of feeding, because truly, all the science says is that FED is best. What is most important is that babies are fed and nurtured and that Moms are supported in whatever decision they make for themselves and their families.
