Introducing Governance Super Powers & Substantial Network Performance Improvements.
Lupercalia. A powerful upgrade is coming to Juno within the next 2 weeks.
Named after the ancient roman festival. The origin of the festival is likely derived from (latin: Wolf) and has suggested connection with an ancient deity who protected herds from wolves and with the legendary she-wolf who nursed Romulus and Remus. As a fertility rite, the festival is also associated with the god Faunus.
The upgrade.
Lupercalia will be split into two phases.
Phase 1 will introduce the following:
- Security patch
- Performance improvements
- Governance module can Instantiate contracts
- Governance module can Execute contracts
- Switches to using the mainline wasmd module rather than the fork
- Latest software dependencies CosmWasm v0.24.0, Cosmos SDK 45, and Tendermint v0.34.16
Phase 2 will introduce inter-chain accounts. More on this to come once Lupercalia 1 is complete.
The reason for a split into 2 phases is so that in between phases, the community can focus on follow up proposals related to prop16.
With Lupercalia 1, the community will now have new super powers. The governance module can now instantiate and call smart contracts. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities for community governance.
