YES YES YES. Lazy questions. I have this interchange at least daily:

“I can’t find X, have you seen it or know where it is?”

Maybe, where have you already looked for it?

“Um...”

Or this:

“I need to get X done but I’m not sure how. Can you show/help me?

Maybe. Can you tell/show/bring me what you’ve done so far?

“Uhh…”

These tactics are particularly effective with teenagers and other people with too much time on their hands.

But the most toxic of questions combine the stupid and the lazy: the Gunner Question. These are the “I want to be heard but don’t have anything to say that will contribute to the discussion in any meaningful way” questions posed in meetings/class/seminars, which are designed to steer the conversation toward an off-topic on which the Gunner wishes to impart their knowledge and wisdom.
