Nyck Caution and Kirk Knight present their first joint project Nyck @ Knight for their fans to enjoy. The Pro Era duo have released solo projects in the past; but, their joint effort is something worth the listen. The 23-year-old and 21-year-old respectfully, break from the Joey Badass’ shadow to created a project that can be considered one of the best of the year.

The eight track project allows fans to get a quick listen into the work that the young stars have produced. Over the Kirk Knight production Nyck Caution gives some over his best verses to date. Caution’s ear for beats that has improved from his last project Disguise the Limit, which had great verses but seem to lack depth with the beats. On the club banger “Dial Up” Caution raps about needing to call his dealer back to get higher.

But if you pick the pieces up and see the bigger picture then it really ain’t as bad
Working on it like a maniac, overthinking when I’m alone
But never lose sight of the goal at hand
Only thing on the buzz be the dial tone

While Caution lyrical ability on this tape is unquestioned, Kirk Knight shines when he is called upon. On the song “Off the Wall” where the duo goes back and forth, Knight talks about how losing wasn’t an option when he was growing up in Brooklyn, NY.

God forbid can’t bring home the bacon ’cause I die from one of these pigs
Life’s a gamble, take a risk
I’m callin’ shots that don’t miss, ya bitch we ballin’
Just to get the point across that we can’t be stallin’, money callin’

Where this tape shines is when Caution and Knight share a verse as if they are battling within the bars. On the song “Wake Up” the two go back and fourth on how grateful they are for the life they have now.

Gotta count ya blessings before they fade away
Stay away from people that prevent you from the great escape
They try to dock me but I swear I couldn’t stay in place
My pen heavy, only anchor on me, what this paper make
This that soul music, nigga turn me up some
Thinking light years ahead I can feel the buzz
Eyes dilated, see the up and up
And every blessing count nigga just keep it a buck
Been the bigger man since I had a sippy cup
So many dead homies, nigga forced to run it up
Stay on track knowing that it’s never enough
Learning how to pull a card, pull any would bluff
Got a couple of the queens on lay away
Got a couple dumb niggas checking me today
Got that Ace in the hole, more bottles of Spades
Rappers days numbered nigga, I’m gunning for king

With a weekend that saw the release of Meek Mill, Tyler the Creator, and Lana Del Rey, Nyck Caution and Kirk Knight made a project that has made them a group that needs to be heard from.
