An Open Letter To Every Wantrepreneur That Feels ‘Stuck’ or Discouraged

I don’t know what to say to you. I don’t know the magic words to convey to you how much it hurts me to see you ‘playing small’. How much it annoys me to talk to you and get excited about your skills or talent that will help people, that can make the world a better place, but you don’t want to share it with them.

You already know that you can help small businesses get profitable, you know that you can help entrepreneurs change their perspectives and improve their results with your coaching, you know that last year your tech skills and consulting services helped sales exec’s hit their 7 figure quotas, you know that your image consulting business increases the confidence and bank accounts of your clients. YOU know this…….but hardly anyone else does.

I now realize that it’s not enough for me to get angry — -you have to. You have to get angry at yourself for believing that the economy, the government or any external factor is causing you to fail. Get angry at yourself for turning down that radio invite that will get you in front of the very audience that you can help. Opportunities so amazing that you can impact the lives of so many people who need what you already know. Get angry that you dare think of your talent or skill set as trivial just becomes it comes naturally to you……or tell yourself things like “nobody will pay for this”.

No my friend, to YOU it’s trivial, to someone else it can be transformation.

Friend, please don’t deprive the world of what talents you have. I know you are nervous about being on video. I know you feel that you are not ‘ready’. I know you feel that that next piece of information is going to be the magic pill that will catapult your business. I also know that you feel you ‘can’t afford’ or ‘aren’t ready’ to launch yet. I know you compare yourself to other small business owners and feel inadequate. I know that you are smart enough to know intellectually that it takes time to polish or perfect but you must start.

I know you have read motivational book after book. I know you have watched Gary Vaynerchuck, Kimra Luna, Ryan Stewman and Grant Cardone videos over and over but the motivation just doesn’t seem to last. I know you lurk in online groups, quietly liking posts. I know you see group members post questions that you can answer. I know you start typing and delete your answers because you are still hiding.

You see friend, I know all of these things because I was you. Also know that every single name I listed also has felt the same to some degree. Entrepreneurship is a walk in the park, it will be hard, you may feel embarrassed, you will wonder what people will think, and YOU WILL FAIL (sometimes more than once).

But please know that those same people who may ridicule or not understand — — they are not your people. Your people are the ones who desperately need what you have to offer. Find those people. And in the process, you will find you. Please stop hiding under the cloak of professionalism. Please stop DIY’ing things that you know you should outsource. PLEASE LEARN HOW TO SELL THINGS: yourself and your products. Please stop consuming free content and be afraid to invest in yourself. Your clients, your family and your business depends on it.
