Raising money with your best friend
The Liverpool Dog Jog and how events like it could open up a world of fundraising to all
It may be intimidating for many ‘non-athletes’ to contemplate taking part in a fundraising event like a marathon or even a 10k. Whether it is because you cannot commit to the time needed to prepare, or find the physical challenge too gruelling to imagine, an endurance race is still going to be something undertaken by a select few.
However, that should not put you off joining in fundraising events that are aimed at making the world a more charitable place. For those that really don’t fancy months of preparation, there are activities that are catered to a more leisurely pace.

This Saturday, August 13th, at Sefton Park in Liverpool runners and their pups will set off on a 5k jog as part of the Dog Jog, many will be doing so in aid of charity. The run is relaxed and fun, with no times or pressure on those who are taking part. It is a great chance for both man’s best friend and his human companion to get a bit of exercise and contribute to enhancing the world of good with a spot of fundraising. It is part of a series of Dog Jogs that are taking place around the country, running through to October this year.

The great thing about unique events like the Dog Jog is that they open up the world of fundraising to many who would otherwise not consider taking part. While it is no stroll in the park, a 5k is not an insurmountable task for most people (and their four-legged friends too) and it gives a good opportunity for those who may not otherwise choose to fundraise through an event.
There are many other similar organised activities that do not need triathlon levels of endurance to take part in, including organised swims, Color Runs, bake-offs, and all manner of other challenges that you could do to raise money for something you care about. So do not let your physical ability or stamina make you think that you cannot take part in fundraising for charity through an event.
