Who Ya Gonna Call? Meet our future, real-life ghostbusters!

By Anisa Easterbrook

As you’re probably aware, the 1984, iconic supernatural comedy Ghostbusters is back! The paranormal craze has returned with a new, female-led adaptation of the film. The movie, which returned to cinemas this July, stars Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy.

For some, Ghostbusters is simply a brilliant film which gives you a good laugh, however for others — ghost-busting is a deadly serious business.

Part-time entrepreneur and thirteen year old Lewis Robinson, from Newcastle, has just started a crowdfunding page with his best friend, Sammy, on charity platform JustGiving. He hopes to raise money to fund his future career as a ghostbuster.

Speaking to Lewis he says:

“I’ve always been interested in the paranormal and I’ve always wanted to find definitive proof of the actual existence of them, I’ve just always been intruiged”.

When asked if he had seen the new movie to which he reassuringly responded: “Yeah I have, I love it but that’s not the only thing that inspired me.”

What truly inspired Lewis and his fascination with the undead was his very own paranormal experience.

“When I was younger, I was in the car and we were driving past a field and I remember seeing this big, black figure and it didn’t look human, it looked way too tall, it was misty and smokey as well.”

Ever since, Lewis claims the image has been ‘burnt’ into his head.

That’s not the only experience he’s had though. Not too long ago, Lewis was awake until the early hours of the morning (3 am to be precise) and he simply could not get to sleep. He heard chilling giggles coming from his bathroom.

Lewis is not alone in his fascination with ghouls, research carried by a voucher company, discovered that 82% of Britons believe in the paranormal with 68% claiming they had even had supernatural experiences themselves.

It has been a long dream of Lewis’s to capture ghouls on camera so he can show the world and changer perceptions of the paranormal. He wants all of the skeptics to be proven wrong and to believe just as much as he does!

With the right equipment (which we are informed can be quite pricey), Lewis says he would aspire to help people in Britain with infestations and poltergeists.

In order to do this, he would need all sorts of professional equipment such as a ‘professional EVP recorder’ and ‘thermal scanners’. Currently Lewis tells us he has just his phone and an app to work with, which will suffice for now but he’s eager to pursue bigger dreams and take the next step in his career.

Lewis and Sammy have been very professional as a budding ghoul catchers and have even set up their own website — www.ghostsightings.net where they promise to document any sightings. You’ve sure got to admire their spirit!

Popular reality British TV show Most Haunted better keep an eye out for Lewis and his pal Sammy, they are spooktacularly dedicated to their cause and won’t let anything scare them out of their way.

Lewis’ mother is fully supportive of her son and is very proud of him! — Doing parenting right.
