Local Vermont Paper Still Searching for the Perfect Suitor
Ester Bloom

From the NY Times article: “Journalism at The Gazette consists of keeping track of local government and the goings on here and in a few surrounding towns: With milk prices falling, for example, dairy farmers are banding together to increase their clout. The nearby town of Craftsbury, a Gazette reporter wrote, is ‘joining the 21st century’ with high-speed internet.”

This describes every rural weekly I’ve ever seen in Vermont, although there’s usually also a lot of information about local high school sports, and pictures of cows and/or foliage. It’s a rough place to live.
