I lived with my parents for almost a year after I graduated, and once I got a job (3 months or so after graduation), I started paying rent. It was a nominal amount (I think $200 or $300 a month), because that’s all my parents would accept, but it was something. I also bought pretty much all my own food and did all my cooking and laundry, as well as a not insignificant share of the cleaning.
