I would argue that whether or not you “learned something” is exactly the metric by which a liberal arts education should be measured. If you go to a liberal arts college in the US, the focus is not meant to be preparation for a specific career; it’s meant to be getting a (relatively) broad, well-rounded education and learning skills that will likely serve you well in the work world (critical thinking, analysis, writing, etc.) but aren’t meant to be the exact skillset you will need for a specific job.
