Did you miss us? Priorities USA Friday Hot Takes is back after a week off while we recovered from Philly. We thought things might be a little quiet this week, but OH MY GOD WERE WE WRONG. Perhaps that’s why the Washington Post reports “turmoil in the Republican Party escalated Wednesday as party leaders, strategists and donors voiced increased alarm about the flailing state of Donald Trump’s candidacy and fears that the presidential nominee was damaging the party with an extraordinary week of self-inflicted mistakes, gratuitous attacks and missed opportunities.” It wasn’t a good week for the GOP nominee who clearly “can’t let go of a perceived slight, no matter the potential damage to his presidential campaign or political reputation.” Even Donald Trump’s own staff is apparently frustrated with him, and can you blame them? The following graphic appeared on CNN earlier this week:

Pretty bad right? There was this one too because “Donald Trump can’t stop bringing up imagined stories that involve evil Muslims.”

That’s right…Donald Trump claimed this week he saw a secret video of Iran receiving money from the US. A claim so ridiculous that MSNBC literally called it BS in the chyron.

And it’s obviously getting to the notoriously thin-skinned candidate, who at campaign events this week claimed the election (and the debates) would be “rigged,” called Hillary Clinton “the devil,” and even kicked a baby…yes, a baby…out of one of his rallies. That’s why you’re starting to see big name Republicans switch sides, and endorse Hillary Clinton. Let’s take a look at what else happened this week…

PRIORITIES LAUNCHES NEW TV ADS STARRING MITT ROMNEY & NAVY LIEUTENANT JOE KERNAN. This week Priorities released two new television ads, the first of which featured Lieutenant Joe Kernan (Ret.), a naval officer who was shot down over Vietnam and spent 11 months in a POW camp. In the new spot Lieutenant Kernan emphasizes just how dangerous a Trump presidency would be: “What Donald Trump said about members of the military being captured is a disgrace…Donald Trump doesn’t understand the weight of sending Americans into harm’s way…he’s unfit to be president.”

We also brought back Mitt Romney, because as everyone knows it’s written into Priorities USA’s bylaws that we have to do ads with Mitt Romney in them every cycle. (this is a joke) But seriously, Mitt Romney, Marco Rubio and even George W. Bush’s CIA Director believe that Donald Trump is unfit to be President of the United States because he’s simply too dangerous when it comes to our national security. Priorities’ Chief Strategist Guy Cecil appeared on CNN to debut our newest television ad called “Captured” and you can watch Guy’s appearance on CNN and both of our new ads below:

TRUMP LIES ABOUT MOCKING DISABLED REPORTER. By now you know that Priorities has released two ads, one on television and one digitally highlighting the fact that Donald Trump has such a character deficit that he thought it was OK to mock someone with a disability. Well, Donald Trump’s inability to own up to a mistake and let something go has come back to bite him once again. The Huffington Post reports “Donald Trump claims his supposed compliance with a federal law requiring his buildings to be accessible to wheelchair users proves that he’d never mock a reporter with a disability.” As ridiculous as that sounds, it’s NOT EVEN TRUE, because “People with disabilities have successfully sued a Trump property company and production firm in recent years for unfair treatment that violated the ADA.” Pants on fire, Donald.

TRUMP’S RUSSIA PROBLEM. This week Donald Trump gave us yet another example of how dangerously unfit he is when it comes to our national security. In an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Trump promised that Putin would not go “into Ukraine,” apparently forgetting that Russian troops have been occupying Ukraine for nearly two years. When Stephanopolous pointed this out, Trump gave a babbling response where he half rescinded his statement, half doubled down, and finally blamed Obama (thanks, Obama). But at one point, Trump did know that Russia had invaded Ukraine. In fact, he praised Putin for his handling of the situation in 2014: “Well, he’s done an amazing job of taking the mantle… And he’s taken it away from the president, and you look at what he’s doing. And so smart. When you see the riots in a country because they’re hurting the Russians, okay, ‘We’ll go and take it over.’ And he really goes step by step by step, and you have to give him a lot of credit.” So not only is Trump totally clueless about foreign events, he doesn’t even know what he himself has said about them — it must be hard to praise dangerous tyrants like Vladimir Putin so often that you can’t even remember all the times you did so.

PRIORITES LAUNCHES NEW ADS TARGETING HISPANICS. This week Priorities launched an English and Spanish language digital ad targeting Hispanics in three battleground states. “Our Country” and “Nuestro Pais” features Careliz, the mother of two sons who served in the military and is dismayed by Trump’s offensive and divisive language regarding Hispanics. “My sons fight for our country” Careliz says, “and when Donald Trump says we don’t deserve to live here, it’s just a slap in the face.” You can watch both versions of “Our Country” below:

TRUMP ATTACKS GOLD STAR FAMILY. Women, Hispanics, African Americans, POW’s, The Disabled…oh that’s right, Donald Trump forgot to attack military families who lost someone. Mission accomplished. This week “Donald J. Trump belittled the parents of a slain Muslim soldier who had strongly denounced Mr. Trump during the Democratic National Convention, saying that the soldier’s father had delivered the entire speech because his mother was not “allowed” to speak.” And as Trump unbelievably tried to compare his sacrifices to that of the Khan family, the Trump surrogate machine stood in line, with former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski arguing that Captain Khan would have been alive if Trump had been President, and spokeswoman Katrina Pierson embarrassingly claiming that it was President Obama’s fault that he died. (nevermind that President Obama was a state senator in 2004.) You get that the sense that maybe finally…after everything…Trump’s finally gone too far.

TRUMP MEN: STRONG WOMEN AREN’T SEXUALLY HARASSED. Coming to the defense of his friend Roger Ailes as he faces multiple allegations of sexual harassment, Trump once again demonstrated his penchant for saying truly terrible things about women. Trump opined that it’s “very sad [that women…] are complaining” about the allegations. When USA Today asked him what he would want Ivanka to do in a similar situation, “his reply was startling, even by Trumpian standards. ‘I would like to think she would find another career or find another company if that was the case.’” The next day Eric Trump somehow managed to be more offensive than his father, saying that Ivanka is a “strong” and “powerful” woman and wouldn’t allow herself to be sexually harassed, insinuating that those who are sexually harassed are neither strong nor powerful. OK.

TWEET OF THE WEEK: This week’s tweet of the week goes to ESPN’s Golden State Warriors reporter Ethan Strauss, who responding to a Josh Marshall tweet about Donald Trump, said this:

Have a great weekend!
