Google URL Shortener (goo.gl) Shutting Down
Google launched their URL Shortener back in 2009 as a way to help people more easily share links online. I’m sure many of you have used this service over the past few years. This is the built-in shortener for Google docs that helps us shorten links.
Starting April 13, 2018, anonymous users and users who have never created short links before will not be able to create new short links.
If you have existing goo.gl short links, you can continue to use all features of the goo.gl service for a period of one year, until March 30, 2019. This includes creating new links.
The service shuts down for all users March 30, 2019. All links will continue to redirect to the intended destination after the service shuts down.
