full form of OSI is open system interconnection. an open system is a model that allows any two system to communicate even if their architecture are different. OSI model was created by the international standards organization in 1983. It gives a sensible structure data communication processes to cooperate across networks. the norms were made for the computer industry to permit various organizations to cooperate productively. OSI model consists of seven layers. each layers performs a specific function in network communication. the layers are divided into two groups.
UPPER LAYER:
the upper layer focus on user applications and how files are represented on computers before transfer.
LOWER LAYER:
the lower layers are worried about how the communication across a network really happens.
