From what I’ve seen, most vloggers don’t have to pay much up front to do well. They mostly use cheap means to record themselves, do so from their bedrooms, and use products they’ve received for free in exchange for publicity. This isn’t the case with all vloggers, but most of them aren’t artists as much as personalities. When it comes to music, if you want to succeed you have to put forward a lot of money on the front end for instruments, recording, and travel accommodations, among other things.
That’s just part of it, but I think how much you have to spend before you make any money does come into play.
