Great post. As students grow up, they become more individuated and their learning desires and needs diverge. Our K12 education system does not become more flexible. The good news is that college, for those lucky enough to go, offers the opportunity to find learning communities that embrace the individual soul and mind.

So many adults — even in their 70s — report school-based anxiety dreams. Why? The emphasis is fitting square pegs in round holes, not pursuing ideas and interests.

I’m not anti-teacher — very grateful to those who showed me the way — but wish we could rethink from 4th grade up!
