Devenie Ross, pictured in May of 2016 with Neeli Bendapudi, former School of Business dean and current provost and executive chancellor of KU, is one of recipients of the AICPA’s 2016 Elijah Watt Sells Award.

Devenie Ross, a 2016 School of Business graduate, is one of the winners of the American Institute of CPAs’ 2016 Elijah Watt Sells Award.

The award is presented annually to CPA candidates who obtained a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination, passed all four sections of the exam on their first attempt and completed testing in the award year.

A total of 102,323 individuals sat for the exam in 2016, and Ross was one of 58 candidates to meet the award criteria. For the second consecutive year, a KU Master of Accounting student has won this award. Nicole Jones, a 2015 MAcc graduate, was among the 2015 winners.

Ross received her bachelor’s in accounting from KU in 2015 and graduated with a Master of Accounting in 2016. She now works for RubinBrown in the company’s Kansas City, Missouri, office.
