Assessment Task 2A: Drawing/Notation

Reflection
Due to my Assignment, I have done some research work referring to the technique I choose. By understanding of “Fun Palace that full of activities defined by pieces of architectures” this technique can be defined or explained as through the going activities or movements within specific spaces throughout a series of buildings, the buildings constructed different levels with different activities for expressing different interests to different people. According to Cedric Price’s theory, the Fun Palace would challenge the very definition of architecture, for it was not even a normal ‘building’ at all, but rather a kind of framework, enclosing a socially interactive machine. It was the realization of the ‘machine for living’ and it was not a museum, nor a school, theatre, or funfair, but it could be all of these things at the same time.
The source image I have been chosen which is from the view of UTS main street. By not changing the composition of the picture, I put the technique of pieces of architectures into the image. For example, on the left hand side which is a car park, by affecting on the technique, it has been changed to a palace with different levels for imaging different activities. Same as the right hand side, the UTS academic building also has been changed into different levels by imaging like a factory with many frameworks and scaffolds. The whole view of this picture is an outdoor view but with the affection of pieces of architectures, it has been created to an indoor view which means I create a new fun palace by using the technique of pieces of architecture. The final design looks much more like the Fun Palace by Cedric.
