Local Food is Great, But Can It Go Too Far?

Great read. As a New Englander living in a small farming town I think about this every fall when we enjoy the last of the locally grown fruits and vegetables; should I have a garden salad at Thanksgiving? In the farmstands I’ve experienced first hand how many people don’t understand growing seasons and where their food comes from — they want to pick apples in April and strawberries in August. Getting more people to think about what is ‘in season’ and ‘local’ has been great but I love your quote about systems that try and replace sunlight being bad.
