Some women certainly get more sexism thrown their way than others. So it happens, that whenever I try to read a piece with feminist concerns, I just cannot seem to relate or identify, no matter how hopeful I may be in the beginning. One may always say that I’m just that lucky and sheltered… what one can also do is look at themselves and search for any clues there.
Look, a lot of the alleged sexism I hear talked about really is just stemming from the fact that dudes sometimes forget you’re not one of them, and so they play dirty — like they would on each other. And then you go all sensitive about their actions, call for sympathy, and what you get is either a mumbling blob of embarrassment in the corner (who genuinely had no clue it would affect you so much, coz it wouldn’t any man), or a fierce and arrogant ass saying “so what? big deal, you man-hater!” (who’s really just being defensive more than anything). But what that probably means, is that — you act like a dude. And so get treated like one. And that’s when you remember you’re not, so it must be sexism.
No, no, I guess I’m blind. I guess the saying “change yourself before you try the world” is only applicable when you’re not a woman who got a problem with other people’s attitude.
