I installed AdBlocker Plus recently on my desktop. The very next day I went to WIRED and after looking at one article I found another one of interest Good Old Wired took the screen from me. A white page with some drivel about they understand ad blockers yada-yada-yada. I closed the tab, I have yet to return.

So here is the funny part. I wasn’t all that interested in blocking some specific sites, WIRED being one of them. Now, blocking them has the possibility of awarding me real joy. Only a little but quite real nonetheless.

To be fair they weren’t the worst offender on my desktop. However, they totally sucked on my iPhone. I just recently moved from an old iPhone 4 to the new and whizzy iPhone6s. I made the mistake of checking the web while waiting in the doctor’s office. Of course, I didn’t get to read any articles because the intrusive ads blocked what I was trying to see. So WIRED mobile was the entire reason I installed the ad blocker on my desktop. And is the reason I have yet to return.

Yes, in case your were wonder, I did try subscribing previously but they insisted on sending me dead trees. The only way not to receive useless and out of date information regurgitated onto dead trees was to not subscribe.
