Apple’s updated Photos app recognizes thousands of objects, scenes and facial expressions
Kenny Yin

It sounds pretty useless to me. I have an Apple computer now, and it supposedly does facial recognition. Half the faces are trees, mountains, mushrooms and whatnot, not even people’s faces. That’s a nice party trick, but I can’t imagine why I’d want to use it.

Unless this new stuff works 5–10X better than Google’s current image technology it is probably worthless as well. Have you ever done an image search with a keyword or two? Half the pictures are totally random. Granted, Apple’s algorithm might have more smarts to it.
