How The AskGaryVee Show Inspired A Coffee Revolution.
In this article I’ll explain how the AskGaryVee Show inspired a coffee revolution. In 2014, the social media entrepreneur, and daily vlogger Gary Vaynerchuk started a show on the popular video sharing website youtube call “AskGaryVee”. The objective of the show was to answer the thousands of daily questions Gary is asked daily by his social media followers about business, entrepreneurship and life in general. After 2 years of doing the show Gary decided to take the most popular questions he answered on the show, and compose them into a book called “AskGaryVee”.
In December of last year I was playing with the idea of starting JavaBoxCoffeeClub when I came across the audio version of “AskGaryVee” on audible.com. I had a free download token, so I downloaded it. The book started off with Gary stating very simply that not everyone is cut out for entrepreneurship. This shocked me because most people start out with statements about how anyone can do anything they put their minds to it, but not this one.
In this book Gary spoke about focusing on being you, and not who you think you are. Sometime that means facing the fact that you aren’t good at what you’re trying to do. Sitting at my desk listening to him speak his own words in the audible book I realized 2 things;
- I was wasting my time pretending to be something I wasn’t
- I was wasting my life pretending to be good at something I wasn’t very good at
It was so simple It took about 1/2 a chapter to realize that Gary was right. I sucked at my job and things weren’t going to get any better. Not only that but time was ticking away. If I wanted chase that ridiculous dream that was constantly lingering inside my head I needed to do it now. I finished the book that day, and started JavaBoxCoffeeClub the next morning.
Gary Vaynerchuk will probably never hear about this, nor will he ever try my coffee. However, he words inspired me to focus on product quality, put my team members first, value every customer and always do the right thing because it’s the right thing. Period.
