Our promise to Dreamers
Yesterday I made a promise that I would not support any year-end spending bill if it does not include a solution for the more than 700,000 recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
We made a promise to these young people: that if you give us your information and an opportunity to vet your background, you could live here.
It’s as simple as that — but Trump and Republican leaders in Washington are breaking that promise by playing politics with their lives. We need these young people focused on what truly matters: studying, serving in our military, and innovating.
We have to think about the kind of message it sends when we have hundreds of thousands of young people who are terrified because Congress hasn’t done its job.
Each day in the life of these kids where we fail to do right by them is a day where our country is failing an important moral test. Let’s do the right thing.
Thanks for all you do.
