If you are a book worm, you definitely understand the pain of not having anything to read. In general, I read about 5 books a week (although am getting lazier and lazier) and I read through books way faster than I can buy new ones. Books especially good ones are expensive and it is always a difficult task to satisfy my reading appetite using my wallet. ( I have this big crater inside my wallet that is magically sucking my cash to God knows where!)

If you’re in a position like mine, the next best position is to find good books for free. But who’s that crazy person who opens up a shop and starts giving out best sellers for free? Well, worry not, In my quest to find more knowledge, I have run into several websites that offer a huge collection of free awesome books. I know it’s hard for some of us (the hardcopy heads) who are addicted to the smell of new paper on books to get around to reading eBooks but it’s better than not having anything to read.

Project Gutenberg

This is my favourite. With a collection of 50000 free ebooks, Project Gutenberg is ran by volunteers who create and share books. No registration fee is required, you just get in there and read!

Open Library

Open Library is an online project intended to create one web page for every book ever published. Open Library is a project of the non-profit Internet Archive

It provides access to many public domains and out-of-print books, which can be read online.

Internet Archive

Otherwise known as The Internet WayBack Machine Archive. It is a based nonprofit digital library with a mission to achieve universal access to all knowledge. It provides free public access to collections of digitised materials, including websites, software applications/games, music, movies/videos, moving images, and nearly three million public-domain books.

The Internet Archive allows the public to upload and download

Librivox

Sometimes you find yourself addicted to that one book so much that you can even leave to go and pee. All of a sudden some stupid responsibility comes along and you have to go. With Librivox, you can take your book with you in audio format.

Librivox is a wide collection of audiobooks. Audio books are suitable when driving or doing something that requires a lot of your attention.

Google Bookstore

Google bookstore sells books but they have a free section that has a lot of good books which will keep you busy till you can get the money to buy some. The bookstore also provides book reviews and ratings from other users.

NB: this option is not available ins some countries
