Gordie Jackson I don’t seem to be able to reply directly to your responses, but thanks for your input! I’m not sure how I first came to associate coastlines with deep time — maybe it was because we used to go for day trips to the Jurassic Coast (Dorset area) where it’s common to see ammonite fossils in the rocks along the beach.
