We shouldn’t protect the environment
We create the environment. Plain and simple. Human homes are pretty damn good places to live. Clean air, water, food, hygiene, sleep, socialization and entertainment. If we want good places to live we build them now. If you find yourself outside for an extended period of time you’re considered homeless and everything in the world seems to work against you.
If the planet goes to “shit” and the atmosphere becomes to toxic to breathe you better believe the wealthiest people will live in airtight airlock entry homes and walk around outside in exosuits or mechs. Sounds awesome if you’re wealthy. But what does that mean? Wealthy people get to do cool stuff?
Not exactly. It takes imagination to live well. In order to be wealthy you need to be able to understand instinctively what your needs are and how to meet them in a way that expands the possibilities for everyone around you. When they lose something many people get caught up on the thing they lost instead of looking for the new life they can create without this thing. If you accept the loss you will immediately start imagining a new way to meet your needs without the thing. You will be in a position to receive whatever is next.
This is wealth: Being able to make good use of whatever comes your way.
The environment is an aggregate of the stuff that comes our way. Air enters the lungs and if you’re lungs are in good condition and the air is clean you are able to use the air. Wealth. A wealthy civilization is a civilization where all its inhabitants are able to make good use of their environment.
So what do we do?
We design the environment so everyone can make use of it.
If our coastal cities find themselves partially or fully submerged from melting glacial ice then we must make our cities amphibious. New city sanitation systems. Free swimming and scuba lessons. Gear pickups and drop offs. Submarine cars. Waterlock entry homes. Partially underwater clubs and nightlife. You get the idea. How fast can we evolve with the changes?
Cause y’all know change is happenin’
So how about all these people without homes? Well, we can’t expect everyone to live the same way. We can design the environment to beautifully and effortlessly provide for everyone’s needs and a little extra. Maybe even a lot extra if everyone plays along. The problem is people who have had low access to the full benefits of civilization are used to begging and can’t imagine an easy life. Other people think that they can’t make meaningful change so they might as well get high or revert back to habits.
My point? People don’t want to fill out papers to get access to the things they need. We need a way of opening up access to reliable housing and transportation for anyone and everyone immediately. This is how we increase the thinking power of the planet. But there is a catalyst to all this change. We must spark the imagination.
If you give a man or a family a free house, it must have a voice inside it to interact with its inhabitants to keep their minds moving forward towards their goal.
“Hello Mr. Daily would you like to go to Singapore or Dubai tomorrow? Shall I book a flight?”
Whatever Mr. Daily was tripping about a second ago should immediately be replaced with the excitement and anticipation of escape to another place… Where he will again be accompanied by the same voice to guide him.
This new way of designing society will churn people around the world pushing them but also supporting them allowing them to accomplish everything they’ve ever dreamed and more. On his flight to Singapore Mr. Daily hears the voice again.
“Hello Mr. Daily would you like to design the new monument in Calgary for social justice? I really appreciate your aesthetic taste. I’ll load the design program.”
Just like that Mr. Daily is now an architect without knowing anything about the field. His design will be compared with thousands of others for the project mentioned above but will also be saved to a database where anyone looking for a design template can filter through saved designs to choose one they like to modify or build in real reality or virtual reality.
We must get the power to change the environment into all hands. Everyone contributing to the fullest. Not just specialized careers but fully independent people moving around the world assisted by global intelligence. This is the secret to “protecting” the environment. We change it to suit our needs.
