I always keep my ID readily accessible in a non-threatening location, just in case. If I get pulled over, I have my license and registration in my lap, my hands on the wheel and in a non-threatening position, and the window rolled down before the officer approaches.

I realize suggesting these things sounds like victim-blaming. It’s not. No one should have to think through these precautions. But, it’s survival.
