Snow Turns Scarlett with a Triple Homicide (Fargo)

Three people, including a state trooper, were found dead in the snow on the highway just outside the town of Brainerd. The two civilian bodies were found about 2 miles up the road from the trooper and his prowler. The authorities believe that the murders are all connected. Officer Marge Gunderson suspects that the trooper was killed and as the suspects were moving the body the two other victims drove by. A high-speed car chase ensued before they were finally stopped and murdered themselves. “There are two sets of foot prints surrounding the area around the trooper,” Gunderson stated, “there must be two suspects.”

After scouring the scenes for sometime the officers suspect that one of the suspects is not a very large man, while his associate appears to be quite small. There also appears to be a discrepancy in there levels of violence used. This is shown but the different nature of the two sites. The trooper, while brutally shot, was simply killed and then dragged off by the two suspects. While the other two were killed by just the larger man and with quite a bit more forced used.

The body of the trooper was found just of to the side of the road, and one of the victims from the other site was pinned inside their vehicle that was flipped over on the side of the road. The other was several yards away. It appears that he was able to escape and tried to run before being chased down and killed.

The snow and thus the water is making it challenging for police to gather anymore evidence at the scenes, but investigations continue in and around the Brainerd area. Officer Gunderson said that, “it is unlikely that the suspects are from Brainerd.”

Wakes for the victims in the flipped car will be private and will be announced by the families. The wake for the fallen state trooper has yet to be determined. Police say it is important to be vigilant and to keep our eyes open for suspicious behavior, and to report anything that they see to the proper authorities immediately. These killers are still at large so stay safe Brainerd.
